image002

The May General PTSA Membership Meetings is on Monday!

Monday, May 21st
CCCK-8 Library
6:30 – 8:30 pm

PTSA will join the C3AC meeting for a shared time at 6:30 pm when we will get an update from the Principal and staff. In the PTSA meeting, we have some bylaw edits to review, and we will be planning for next year. Consequently, if you want to influence our priorities and activities for next year, this is the meeting to attend! Participating in these meetings is a great way to help make our school the best learning environment for our kids.

Child care is available during the meeting!! The student council has committed to provide child care at each of the PTSA and C3AC meetings, so your kids will be safely having a great time in the gym while you provide your critical input to our activities!

For the full agenda, please click below.
May PTSA Agenda

GOAL PROGRESS: We will meet our goal for 10 people per meeting as long as YOU show up to this meeting! Hope to see you there!

We have bylaw changes to review and eventually vote upon. All of these changes were prompted by requirements made by national and Colorado PTA, but if there are any other amendments we’d like to make this would be the time to make them! Please review this Proposed Bylaw Changes document to view the proposed changes. (Old text in blue, new text in yellow)

We will also need to approve the April meeting notes. If you may recall, we spent the bulk of the April meeting reviewing the list for the Silent Auction. Consequently, these are easy notes to review! If you have not reviewed them yet, please do so here: April Meeting NotesMeeting Notes

As always, if you have any thoughts, comments, suggestions, please send them our way at ccck8ptsa@gmail.com

Participating in these meetings is a great way to learn about what is happening in our school to make it the best learning environment for our kids!  We hope to see you there!

We look forward to seeing you Monday night!

If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org  Feel free to contact Laura, too, in order to get more information.

Thank you for your support at our Silent Auction & Talent Show last Friday. It was a GREAT success. We will be able to buy all the Chromebooks we committed to purchase! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Community Events

The Coal Creek Canyon 9Health Fair will be held at the CCCK-8 on Saturday April 28th.  9Health Fair offers low cost health screenings and welcomes the whole community to attend.  Most blood chemistry tests are $20-35, and all other screenings (BP, children’s health, hearing, vision, lung capacity, bone density, etc) are free.
We are still seeking several volunteers to help with registration and screening stations.  Most volunteers do not need any medical experience and will be helping direct participants or assisting the lead at each station.  All volunteers will get a discount off any blood tests they want to have as well.  Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Michele Page at michele@ocotilloroad.com or visit our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Coal-Creek-Canyon-9Health-Fair-217009615310131/

You can register as a participant or volunteer at this link: https://www.9healthfair.org/health-fairs/spring/270/index

The CCCIA is still looking for a volunteer to organize the kid volunteers for the Pancake Breakfasts they host. There are four a year, but they only use kids at three of them (February, May and September). This is an EASY volunteer job as there are a few shifts and lots of kids who regularly like to volunteer. They do like the adult volunteer to supervise the kids during the breakfasts themselves, but other volunteers can be recruited for that as well! If you are interested, please contact Bruce Goodwin at x0529 Also contact Bruce if you or your kids are interested in volunteering at the breakfast on May 5th.

Silent Auction

We will be hosting our annual silent auction as part of the talent show Friday, April 20th.  This is a MAJOR fundraiser for us and helps us cover the costs of the Chromebooks we committed to purchasing for the school this year.  Instead of asking a few people to get a lot of items for the silent auction we are asking everyone to do a little bit!  Each classroom is making or providing something.  Next, we are asking EACH of you to donate one item.  It can be something you make or something you can offer as a service.  It can be something you ask a business to donate.  It can be something you buy and donate.  It doesn’t matter how it comes to you, but we need you to do the work of obtaining it and getting it to us by April 13th.  If you have any questions, please contact Jody Dickson at jody@dickson.org or 303-588-6639
