2/9/18 Friday Notes

PTSA Events:

Monthly General Membership Meeting
Monday, February 12th
6:30 – 7:30 pm

PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE: The PTSA meeting will be on Monday, February 12, since the third Monday is a holiday this month.  In the meeting, we will be getting serious about our critical silent auction planning.  We will also be revisiting our male participation and PTSA engagement goals as those are the goals we are the furthest away from meeting!  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  Participating in these meetings is a great way to learn about what is happening in our school to make it the best learning environment for our kids.  Make your voice heard by coming to the meeting and helping us be better at what we do!

GOAL PROGRESS: We are teetering just over our goal for 10 people per meeting, so we need 10 or more people to come to Monday’s meeting to continue to meet that goal!  Hope to see you there!
Child care is available during the meeting!!  The student council has committed to provide child care at each of the PTSA and C3AC meetings, so your kids will be safely having a great time in the gym while you provide your critical input to our activities!

Health & Wellness Night

Hey Guacaholics–  We are hosting our Health and Wellness night, including a cook-off and other healthy activities on Friday March 2nd.  The cook-off food is…AVOCADO! The categories are sweet recipes and savory for prizes!  Stay tuned for more information.  Avocad-O-Yeah!

Shop to Support our School!!

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to Smile.Amazon.com, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.) To make it easy, here is the link to tie your Smile account to CCCK-8 PTSA: http://smile.amazon.com/ch/84-6047565

Friends of Rachel Club Quote of the Week:

February is “Be Nice to Staff” month as designated by the 4th grade for the Friends of Rachel Club monthly activity.  Take a moment to smile, say something nice, put a note in their buckets, or help them around the school.  There are plenty of ways to be nice, so find your own way and share kindness with the staff this month!

Community Help Request:

Challenger Sports Camps is looking for a program coordinator for the summer camps they host right here at CCCK-8.  We’ve been hosting this popular program since the turf field was installed.  They are looking for a ‘Camp Coordinator’ to be the point of contact for your local camp, and to help them find ways of reaching as many families and children as possible. You’ll be helping them with some of the following:

– Place posters and banners in the local community e.g. stores, Rec centers, coffee shops etc.,

– Drop off flyers at local schools, youth groups, Mom’s groups etc.,

– Post on community group Facebook pages and other social media outlets.

They will provide all of the material needed to distribute in the area, and they will keep in touch with you to share ideas on how we can best provide the most successful camp experiences.  If you are interested in helping to organize these successful camps, please contact Nathan Robinson  at nrobinson@challengersports.com.

Eagle Eyes is a program where men are present in the school during school hours, helping the students and staff and keeping watch for good and bad behaviors in and around the school.  You do not need to be a dad to participate: Uncles, Grandfathers, Older Brothers, Cousins, Neighbors, Dads are all welcome!  To claim your spot, go to this Sign Up form: http://signup.com/go/VqEOBxL If you have any questions about the program, please contact Jason Moat, 303-378-4500

2018 – 2019 Teacher Appreciation

Our very dear Laura Graves is resigning from her position for next year as teacher appreciation coordinator.  If you are interested in showing all of our appreciation for our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do by organizing four staff meals over the year and preparing occasional gifts and special treats for them, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take as much time as the Special Events work, but it still VERY important.

If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org  Feel free to contact Laura, too, in order to get more information.
