4/13/18 Friday Notes

Monthly General Membership Meeting
Monday, April 16 th
6:30 – 7:30 pm
Since this meeting is SO close to the silent auction, we will be spending much of the meeting time putting the final
touches on our planning for the silent auction and talent show next week. Consequently, this will be a very
tactical meeting. WE NEED YOUR HELP, so please come and find the perfect task for you to help us put on a great
event next week!
GOAL PROGRESS: We are ON TRACK to meet our goal for 10 people per meeting, so we need you to come to
Monday’s meeting to ensure we meet that goal! Hope to see you there!
Child care is available during the meeting!! The student council has committed to provide child care at each of
the PTSA and C3AC meetings, so your kids will be safely having a great time in the gym while you provide your
critical input to our activities!

Silent Auction & Talent Show

Friday April 20th 5:30 pm food & auction, 6:30 pm performances begin

Our community school is hosting our annual Talent Show featuring performances by our students.  Please come and enjoy an evening of delicious food and great entertainment.  Bid at the silent auction to win great prizes, gift certificates and fun activities.  Proceeds will go to the PTSA’s technology fund and support our effort to have a Chromebook for every student. We hope you can join us at this event that supports our school and showcases our talented students!

If you are able to donate food or work the event, we could use your help!!  Please sign up at: http://signup.com/go/ZgtsHSX

Silent Auction

We will be hosting our annual silent auction as part of the talent show Friday, April 20th.  This is a MAJOR fundraiser for us and helps us cover the costs of the Chromebooks we committed to purchasing for the school this year.  Instead of asking a few people to get a lot of items for the silent auction we are asking everyone to do a little bit!  Each classroom is making or providing something.  Next, we are asking EACH of you to donate one item.  It can be something you make or something you can offer as a service.  It can be something you ask a business to donate.  It can be something you buy and donate.  It doesn’t matter how it comes to you, but we need you to do the work of obtaining it and getting it to us by April 13th.  If you have any questions, please contact Jody Dickson at jody@dickson.org or 303-588-6639

Friends of Rachel Club Quote of the Week:

Join PTSA Today!!

We still need more of you to join!!  Thank you for your continued commitment to us, our school and our students!  You are helping us as an organization and helping us reach our goals.  How about YOU?  Did you forget to join the PTSA this year?  We are significantly behind in our memberships this year, and we need your support!  Your membership makes everything we do possible: supporting our school, supporting our students, providing afterschool and enrichment opportunities and gathering input from our school family community. If you haven’t already joined for this year, please join today at http://ccck8ptsa.org/join-ptsa/

Summer Camps

    Summer Soccer Camps

The Brazilians and the British are coming back this year!

Coming back for a second year, from June 11-15 will be hosting the Tetra Brazil Soccer Academy for our 9 – 16 year old soccer players.  This program focuses on technical development, and is led by Brazilian coaches that bring an authentic taste of the flair, passion and creativity of Brazilian soccer.

Our fifth summer of British Soccer Camp will be hosted by the Coal Creek Canyon Park & Recreation District (CCCP&RD) at the Coal Creek Canyon K-8 Turf Field from July 9 – 13.  This week of soccer fun is led by British soccer coaches, and programs are available for kids from ages 3 – 16.

Kids can sign up for one or both weeks of camp. Register now to get the free jersey at www.challengersports.com.

Eagle Eyes is a program where men are present in the school during school hours, helping the students and staff and keeping watch for good and bad behaviors in and around the school.  You do not need to be a dad to participate: Uncles, Grandfathers, Older Brothers, Cousins, Neighbors, Dads are all welcome!  To claim your spot, go to this Sign Up form: http://signup.com/go/VqEOBxL If you have any questions about the program, please contact Jason Moat, 303-378-4500

2018 – 2019 Teacher Appreciation

Our very dear Laura Graves is resigning from her position for next year as teacher appreciation coordinator.  If you are interested in showing all of our appreciation for our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do by organizing four staff meals over the year and preparing occasional gifts and special treats for them, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take as much time as the Special Events work, but it still VERY important.

If you or someone you know might be interested in either of these positions, please contact Jody Dickson, jody@dickson.org  Feel free to contact Laura, too, in order to get more information.
