PTSA Agenda October 2016

Based on our discussion at the September meeting, I drafted some proposed goals. Please review and let us know what you think. We plan to finalize them at tonight’s meeting. Goals help us stay focused on our priorities for the year, so, obviously, defining the goals has major influence on what we achieve this school year.

Draft goals:
– Have Eagle Eyes volunteers present at least 70 school days under this new male participation program before the end of this school year. When men are involved in school, children learn more, perform better in school, exhibit healthier behavior, have fewer discipline problems, are more likely to participate in extracurricular activities and enjoy school more.

– Increasing participation in PTSA through increased membership and meeting attendance as well as filling all the classroom support positions and two more chair positions. We will acquire a minimum of 85 members, and we will average 14 attendees at our monthly meeting. These represent a 30% increase in both categories compare to last year. Through this increased participation, we will increase our capacity, lighten our individual workloads and welcome more diverse voices to our organization.

– Communicate in at least two new ways or at new increased frequency with our students’ family community. As an organization, we will share more about what we are doing, opportunities for participation, and the impact of the work that we do. Through this communication, we will help the family community understand the ways they can utilize the PTSA organization to meet their needs in helping our students be successful.

– Raise enough funds to support the school in (CHOOSE ONE: para-professional position, literacy program, technology equipment, science lab supplies, enrichment, ???) Especially in a year with limited district funding, PTSA financial support can be very impactful. A specific goal may also increase contributions to our fundraising efforts.

We will also be approving the meeting notes from the September meeting. Please click the link below to review them.
