Classroom Membership Challenge

Join the CCCK-8 PTSA and your child’s classroom could win an activity of their choice: Board (Games) at School, Escape Room Challenge or Video Game Competition!  The classroom with the highest percentage of memberships by Sept 28 will win!  Each child who has at least one member join on their behalf counts as one.  Teachers count as two for their homeroom classroom!  Members count for each of their students’ grades.  Your membership makes it possible for us to support classroom enrichment, innovation stations and teachers’ wish lists.  As a member, you also have a voice in how we prioritize what we are working on and how we spend our funds in a year.  For more information, contact Tami Lawson,  We appreciate your support!

Leaderboard: LAST DAY!!!! To be counted, you must become a member today and we’ll do our final tally over the weekend.  AT PRESS TIME: 4th grade remains in the lead with 6th in second and (out of the blue!!) 5th in in third.  8th grade moves to 4th place.  Anyone can still win!  If you haven’t become a member yet, SIGN UP TODAY!!

Classroom Enrichment Support Fund

Please check your child’s Friday folder for information about our Classroom Enrichment Support Fund.  In recent years, the PTSA has provided a classroom enrichment fund in order to provide financial resources for field trips, guest speakers, and other ways of learning at the classroom level.  This year we are providing $300 per classroom.  Enrichment opportunities often cost between $50 – $300, so we welcome you to contribute to this fund to help the teachers provide these unique learning opportunities.  Any funds you donate will be applied to your student(s)’ classroom fund and will help expand what the teachers are able to do.  You may contribute online at:  or send a check with the form provided in the Friday Folder.  In order to maximize the planning time to utilize these resources, please make your donation by October 15th.  Of course, any donation at any time is welcome!

Shop to Support our School!!

Did you know?!?  You can support our school financially JUST BY DOING YOUR NORMAL SHOPPING?!?  Pick up a King Soopers card in the school office, use it while shopping, refill it often, and a portion of your purchases will go to our school.  Do you shop at Amazon?  Switch to, designate Coal Creek Canyon K-8 PTSA as your organization, and a portion of your purchases will support our school.  (It works exactly the same, including with Prime, but donates a little, too.)

Haunted Halls Support & Continuity

Ms. Norris has graciously agreed to organize the “Haunted Halls” haunted house that is part of our Trick or Treat Street fundraising event which is at the end of October.  She is looking for some support in planning and after school workshops that do NOT require attendance at the event itself.  If you love Halloween, decorating or planning great experiences, this is an awesome, short term, opportunity!  That said, part of the opportunity here is learning from Ms. Norris about what it takes to organize this event as she nears retirement in a couple years.  If you are interested, please reach out to Ms. Norris at

Teacher Appreciation

UPDATE: I have one person who would like to SHARE this position.  If you were hesitant to take on the whole thing, but are willing to do it with someone else, please contact Jody (contact info below.)  Remember: Many hands make light work… and it is always fun to volunteer with a friend!

Do you like to treat others with gifts or other special treats?  We are seeking a Teacher Appreciation Coordinator.  The position is responsible for organizing two staff dinners, two staff lunches and other teacher and staff appreciation treats throughout the year.  The school staff works hard for our community kids, so we want to show them all the love they deserve!  If you are interested in helping us demonstrate to all our teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do, then this is the job for you.  It doesn’t take much time, but it still VERY important.  This position works well as a job-sharing opportunity, if you don’t want to do it by yourself, and community members are welcome to apply!  If you or someone you know might be interested this position, please contact Jody Dickson,
